Records, 1864-1865. They consist of a minute book, a checkbook, and a letter book. The letter book also contains ephemera produced by the Committee, accounts of speeches by Colonel N.G. Taylor, a Tennesseean who was organizing appeals in the North for aid to his state, and newspaper clippings. Laid in are some loose receipts, letters, and notes on donations of clothing, etc. There is also an envelope containing the Committee's bankbook for their account with the Bank of Commerce, some canceled checks, three forged banknotes returned to the Committee by the bank, and three printed copies of the Report of the Committee for relief to East Tennessee for the State of New-York (New York: John W. Amerman, 1865).
